I tried to download the teaser trailer but couldnt. I also tried to download it via a different software but still didnt work. I will try and add it from my college login as this doesn't seem to work
Chromosome 17 Trailer Showcase
A showacse was being held in the Media Studies room on the 9th February where we gave the lower years of the school an opportunity to view our trailer also receive some feedback. We also created a questionnaire for all the students to answer after viewing the trailer. This was very helpful for us and also receiving feedback from teachers was also very helpful.
Overall, we received very good feedback from the students. They mentioned that they would watch our film if it was to be released and were inspired by the skills we portrayed through the making of our final teaser trailer.
Poster Construction
We took this photograph from the setting of the teaser trailer. This scene is also in the trailer when the 3 students find a better place to film for their trailer. The picture was edited in Photoshop and used the brightness and contrast to make the picture look dark/isolated and to also reflect the horror genre.
We also added the credits onto the image which is done in other posters and this also important because sometimes the audience like to know who was in charge of editiong, producing, make-up etc. This also gives the poster a professional look. The next thing added was the 15 BBFC guideline. This is important for families to know how much violence, nudity etc is shown. The red hand coming out represents the killer responsible for all the deaths caused. The name, logo and tagline added after made it look like a real poster that would attract our audience if presented on billboards and on buses and bus stops. This is where we would attract most of our audience's because their students and would be travelling by public transport.
Magazine Construction
This was the first process of editing. We first took a picture of Shreena near the setting our our house location. We used a white background and took a close up of her. We then had to take her nose piercing off the photo to make her look dangerous with some effects to accompany that. We created this after...
Once we added the text and almost finished the magazine, our teacher told us about the masthead, the "O" in Total wasnt blended in so we had to change it on Photoshop and make these necessary changes. We also added the blurry effect on Shreena to link in with the idea of the trailer; the opening scene is a blurry close up of her. We mainly used Photoshop for editing of the image.
Magazine Front Cover Inspiration
The Star Trek magazine front cover has been our inspiration. We incporated most of the conventions used on the magazine into our one. We used real films which are going to be released later on this year. Our magazine is also a Special Edition. We used red, white and black as our colour palette, kept it the same throughout and also included the masthead and all other similar conventions used in magazine front covers.
A Level Student Horror Trailers
These trailers are the best ones I have chosen from all the other relates videors I viewed. Looking at these trailers have given a lot of ideas and inspiration to take from.
Editing Time
The editing for the teaser trailer went very well. I am not very familiar with the software, Adobe Premier however another member in the group was conversant with it and she did most of the editing. I still watched and practiced a few things on the software which developed my ability of using the software. This was incredibly helpful as I could clearly talk about how to change the colour, brightness and contrast on a clip, darken the scene to make it relate to the horror genre because when it was daylight when we filmed.
The other time I was researching into other film trailers and teaser trailers. We also watched other trailers made by some students. I will post a link of one of the best ones we looked at. I spent most of the time researching, being an active member in the group, feeding back with certain decisions that were made which could be made better.

Background Research Into Theories
Propp's theory: Vladimir Propp came up with the idea/theory that there are 8 types of characters in the basic storyline. These characters are: the hero, the villain, the donor, the dispatcher, the false hero, the helper, the princess (damsel in distress) and her father, [These people don't have to all be different people]. He also states that there are only 31 things that these characters can do (Sphere of Action). Once we identify the character we can guess the actions. e.g. A Fairytale
Male Gaze: Laura Mulvey's theory that women are almost always represented in a sexualised way in order to appeal to a male audience. This is not necessarily deliberate - she contended that the media is populated mostly by male photographers, directors, editors, lighting technicians and so on; thus, most of what is produced is made FROM a male point of view and in a way which will appeal TO males.

Final Girl Theory: This theory refers to the last girl female character (mainly slasher) that confronts the killer. The theory was created by Carol J.Clover. The girl is typically sexually unavailable, have a unisex name, shares past history with the killer and is the "investigating consciousness" of the film and moves the narrative forward.

Production Company Name
One of the members in our group was part of an organisation called the "NEW AGE VISION". This benefit meant that we could use their name and logo in our teaser trailer. We brainstormed ideas for this and came up with IRIS and INFECTED productions. We initially decided to use Iris as this linked in with the idea of being a voyeur however sadly, we couldn't use an established name that had already been used. This was emailed to her and saved onto a hard drive for us to later open it with Adobe Premier Pro. This name isn't necessarily shout out horror which therefore means that with such a diverse name we can produce more films within different genres for our audience.
Night Vision Tutorial Gone WRONG:(
A lot of our research was done through Youtube as we could find most of the special effect tutorials online. The pictures above show what tutorial we used and the end result when we tried it out on Adobe Premier. This was unsuccessful and only realised this at the end. The problem was that the software the person used on the youtube link was different and an upgrade from the one we used so there were tools that we could use as a result which looked totally different. We then carried on looking into other videos for the ghosting effect and then created the effect on Shreena's (Lucy) face at the beginning of the trailer.
More Filming
The third day o filming was the easiest because we have captured most of the recording and saved it onto the computers already.
This day involved using fake blood. We used a clear screen and put fake blood on Shreena hand. She then had to slowly raise her hand and wipe her hands past the screen so that it looks as though she is trying to grab onto someone. This worked really well because we only had one take and had to be sure about taking it.
We then went to the Textiles department and used the light switch used for the hallway. Once again Shreena's hand was full of fake blood and all she had to do was slam her hand onto the wall and gradually drag it down. This is due to her dying and losing herself at the last minute.

Analysed the percentage of people who watch horror films, why and where. Check it out!
The second day of filming was in Streatham. We found an abondoned Church near the ice rink where everything was scattered at the back, the trees were over grown, the windows from the front were smashed and cracked. This was the perfect location for our trailer as it went well with the theme of horror which reflected a lot of the conventions used. The Church was no longer in use.
We shot a long shot of the church from the front and then panned upwards into the sky. We took the shot a few times and also got a bird in one of our takes. We didnt end up using that take because the Church looked tilted not level.
After that Maria, Shreena and myself got into character and Rhiannon recorded us walking by the side of the church, looking as though we were exploring for something. We only needed about 3 takes for this incase of any other sounds coming from people talking, cars etc.
The next shot is my personal favourite. Us walking but a shot of our feet was taken with a sign on a red board which was the main focus for this shot. The red colour on the board meant danger and bloody and the fact that we just walked past there without any care warns the audience about something terrible happening.
The last shot of the day was at the back of the church, this place looked destroyed. We were all in the scene and the main person in this scene was to be Shreena (Lucy) staring into the camera. We had to take several takes for this because we werent satisfied, some not focusing whilst others laughing whilst recording. It was also snowing on the day of our shoot so it was FREEEEEEEEEEEZZZzzzzzzINGG! to the fullest. at the end of the day we reviewed our footage together and were impressed with what we filmed considering the frozen, snowy weather we had to deal with.

Filming Day

We refreshed ourselves with what we have to do and got on with the make-up and clothing for our characters. We test shot a few times before we got the right angle and shot we wanted so this took a while to come through. We clearly knew what we wanted to portray and show to our audience and the footage we got at the end seemed less but adding the effects in the editing suite encouraged our chances of the trailer looking horror by using the conventions used.
The first shot was filmed by Shreena shooting a close up of Rhiannon. This was an easy shot to take as the actress was standing still. Having a close up adds shows tension and lets us as the audience see and almost try and feel like them; their real emotion.
As a group we all took part in recording and the funniest part was when Maria was throwing herself against the wall as though she had been pushed by someone from behind. We had to take several shots for this because we werent pleased with whatever we shot after reviewing it. We then changed where Maria was being thrown and pushed from to test the best angle. We finally got the take we wanted and saved it.
We then shot Shreena running up the stairs. we wanted to have the camera hand held so i took a few takes from upstairs dominating the situation and Maria took a few running ahead infront of her. We used both the takes to show what Shreena's character felt like and also watching it from another persons point of view.
The next two shots were being shot from a distance. The first one was of the 3 characters outside second setting, the seclusion house. We only took a few takes of the scene as the actors were standing still and the main focus at the moment was the house. The other scene was outside the house where the camera was facing the window at top. At this point Maria and Shreena being in character, banging on the window for help, their facial expressions looked hopeless and like their strugling. After getting all our footage for the day we then went to the editing suite so that all the footage for the day can be saved for editing on another day, once all our filming was done.

We wanted the soundtrack to have a beat that emphasised pain, desperation, gates and bangs to accompany the action on the trailer. Our group originally decided to not use a soundtrack and use sci-fi effects and sounds. We couldnt find anything on youtube that stood out for us so carried on researching into relevant soundtracks that could accompany our trailer.
MEGAS XLR MUSIC - ORCHESTRAL HORROR sounded perfect for our trailer so we fit in the soundtrack with the action on screen and had to make a lot of changes because it wouldn't. Research on Established Horror Posters
I have researched into horror posters and the use of the conventions that are used. The text is very simple and traditional in most of them due to the concept of the films being traditional. I think it will be ideal to use a simple text/font on our poster and front cover magazine as well as the trailer and the production company name.
SCARY FILM - PARODY - TEST
Before filming out real film teaser trailer, our group task was to try filming with a video camera, trying to use different shots and angles to show a range of abilities that I have learnt from this process. We learnt a lot from just messing around with a camera. Music is an essential part in the editing process because it adds tension and keeps the audience thrilled. We also need to experiment more with editing and adding effects. We were more worried about the narrative of the story being clear rather than the effects and editing. Our trailer was initially 6 minutes long but had to cut it down to a minute and a half. We did have a lot of filming footage which had to be deleted. This ISN'T a HORROR teaser trailer, it is a parody of the films our class have watched e.g. Halloween, Carrie, Nosferatu, Dracula, Scream, Psycho etc.

Final FILM TITLE
"CHROMOSOME 17"
This was the title of the film chosen by the group this was down to one of the group members who had stumbled across an article in the newspaper which inspired our story line. we thought this as it was the most relevant due the fact that is based around Smiths-Magenis Syndrome (SMS) a rare developmental disorder which affects an average of 1 in 25,000 individuals. , with an abnormality of the17th Chromosome which then affects the individual causing them to have violent outburst attacking others including themselves.
By having this is the centre subject of the film, it allows the audience to be entertained by the media whilst informing them about uncommon disorders currently in the world that cause damage to lives and affect families.

During an A2 Media class, it had been announced that the students would have the task of creating a media horror trailer contributing to 50% of their final grades. And were then assigned to their groups consisting of Lucy, Marilyn, Charlie and (Tanya) Riley. Being so enthusiastic about death, horror and the afterlife, Marilyn is excited and has the perfect location for the group to begin filming outside a deserted church in the local area which is apparently haunted. So she arranges a time and the place for the group to meet for the first day of filming.
When arriving at the church, the group decide to go to the back of the church in an attempt to find something mystical as well as being the perfect location to film, believing that they would get a very high mark for the setting. They explore the area but Lucy does not feel comfortable and is insistent that they change location. With a large amount of convincing, Marilyn realised that there may be a more convenient place to shoot the film in a second location- an abandoned house. Again, the group reschedule another time and place to meet for the second day of shooting.
When the group is gathered together, for the second time, one of the group members was missing as Charlie did not come, assuming that she was lazy not unenthusiastic about the task altogether, Riley ensured that the group continued to shoot without her. (The entire group was unaware that Charlie has been mysteriously killed in her home- when her body had been carried out of her house and into an ambulance).
The group explore the house and realise that it is the best for shooting having everyone agree. As Marilyn, goes into the bathroom to look for props for a 'bathroom scene' the door swings shut behind her and locks itself so she is stuck in. the light starts to flicker so she cannot see where she is going, there are loud screams coming from the bathroom which alerts everyone then there is complete silence.
Riley is at the scene with Lucy closely behind and kicks the door down to find Marilyn murdered on the floor of the bathroom and blood smeared on the walls and floor. Panic breaks out between he last group members and they become suspicious of each other having an idea that one of them is a 'killer'. They both go into a room and sit down together in silence. There is a power failure where the lights switch on an off continuously and each time the injuries from Riley increase until she as seen as dead, all that is heard is screams. With the hand held camera that the student are using, in night mode Lucy's hand stretches towards the light switch, and as she turns it on, there is a flashback to the doctors office at the place where she had been diagnosed.
On may 17th, at aged 9, Lucy Damon was diagnosed with a condition that caused her to become extremely violent at any given moment for a short period of time, then returning back to her original state afterwards, unaware of any incident that had previously taken place. Due to the fact that her mother had died in a horrific accident being brutally murdered by her father and forced to live in a foster home.
Finally, there is a close up to Lucy's face where she smirks, then another close up of her eyes.

CARRIE - 1976
Carrie White is a shy, friendless teenage girl abused by her insanely religious mother, Margaret. The girls at Bates High School also harass Carrie, with Chris being especially cruel. Carrie experiences her first period while showering after gym class, and, due to her sheltered life, becomes hysterical, thinking she is dying.
Famous Shower Scene - "PSYCHO"
I watched PSYCHO, a 1960 horror film directed by Alfred Hitchcock. This scene was shot from December 17 to December 23, 1959, and features 77 different camera angles. The scene "runs 3 minutes and includes 50 cuts. "Most of the shots are extreme close-ups, except for medium shots in the shower directly before and directly after the murder. The blood in the scene is in fact chocolate syrup and the sound of the knife entering flesh was created by plunging a knife into a melon.
Examining the opening of NOSFERATU
Some of the ideas introduced include the vampires, one of the characters travelling far for greed and Greta Schroder, the wife, who shows her femininity at the beginning of the video. A long shot of the wife knitting is shown portraying womanly nature and independence. This is a classic example of how women used to be in their households and is amazing how this idea is still being acknowledged till present. Another scene of the wife is when she is eagerly waiting by the window for her husband to get back from work. This is a sign of women house wives and staying at home whilst the man works to earn money for the household. The wife is also seen stroking a cat, again expressing femininity.
We are introduced to the cast of the film. This consists of the wife Greta, her husband. They live together in a house of their own, the man works to earn money for the house and it is in the man’s hands to have a job as this portrays responsibility and independence. We are also introduced to Knock, who is a creepy looking old man with a hunched back and bushy eyebrows. Through his facial expressions and body language the audience acknowledges the fact that he may be the baddie. He is seen to have a talent in reading strange signs which outshines his creepy character. Count Orlok is another character who we are introduced to. We are introduced to him because Knock received a letter from him which explains what he needs to do to get some money. Knock looks like the evil man because he doesn’t do anything himself. He sends another man for his work, reducing the chance of Knock being in any potential danger. He also doesn’t inform the other man that this may be dangerous and the whole purpose of greed is being developed throughout the film.
The video is mainly in sepia at the beginning of the film through till the journey when the man goes to visit Count Orlok, showing a little bit of colour which gives us the feeling of happiness and a calm and stable environment. We also see a negative effect in the video when the man is on his way to see Count Orlok. This makes us feel as though something is wrong, however we may not know exactly what’s coming for us to watch. This feeling of anxiety makes us have sympathy for the man on his journey as he is clueless about what he is about to encounter. The negative effect is in black and white. The connotations of this are isolation, loneliness and possible danger.
I would personally describe the music at the beginning being depressing. The rhythm that it’s playing at is really slow which doesn’t give the audience a sense of excitement. Even though it’s a horror genre, a lot of the horror films don’t have sad and depressing music. I would describe the music as lonely and painful. At some point in the film, most likely at the beginning, the music sounds a bit funky and childish, almost like the music they have in cartoons. This is also combined with the yellow colour font and type that is shown as the only dialogue in the film. This idea enhances the cartoon theme and makes it seem more realistic.
The themes introduced are greed, femininity from the wife, religion, the cross seen as an icon in the film. The theme of evil is also portrayed by the negative and black and white effect which resemble with dark, evil actions.
